July 1, 1928 – January 14, 2022
Services to be held at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, where Marie will be laid to rest with her husband, Lorado Rex, a veteran of WWII.
Marie was born in Tipperary, Ireland, the daughter of two classically trained musicians. Though she emigrated to America in 1939, her love of all things Irish never wavered. Indeed, it only grew stronger throughout her entire life. The only thing she cherished more than her Irish heritage, was her great Catholic faith.
Marie was a clever homemaker and highly skilled seamstress; she sewed many amazing things and could mend just about anything. She had a passion for music and a beautiful singing voice which she loved to share with everyone. She was fearless and willing to try just about anything, always ready for adventure. She traveled widely and made friends everywhere she went.
Marie was thoughtful and though she had little, she always shared all that she had. God Bless you Marie, you will be dearly missed!
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Lorado Rex; son, Christopher; and daughters, Mary and Patricia. She is survived by her children: Stephen (Peggy), Paul (Brenda), Sheila Slone (Mark), Eileen, Judy Yugar, Joseph (Cathy), and Peter (Debbie); grandchildren: Julie, Erik, Michael, Nicholas, Eric, Sarah, Catherine, Isaac, Marguirite, Kimberly, Paul, John, Katie, Bahkita, Joseph, Clem, Sarah, Eddie, Jason, Aletha, Mikkel, Richard, Lea, Lolly, Dominic, Jeremy, Elana, Micheala, Joseph, and John; great-grandchildren: Paityn, Ainsley, Emery, Arturo, Dmitri, Gabriel, Sophia, Zach, Natalie, Abby, Oliva, Delany, Matty, Taylynn, Dominick, Anna, Oliver, Willow, Isabell, Moani, Tyson, Jaiden, Christian, Aiden, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Jazzmin, and Zoey.
