Marilyn F. Carroll

6/15/1941 – 8/13/2024

Marilyn Frances Carroll was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on June 15, 1941, to Frank and Lorene Carroll and went to be with The Lord on August 13, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lorene; brother-in-law, James Ussery.

She is survived by her children: Douglas Johnson (Maryann), Bradley Johnson and Carroll Ramsell (Tim); stepson, Dean Johnson; sister, Patricia Ussery; brother, Richard Carroll (Marcy). She was blessed with several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a nephew; nieces; great-nephews; great-nieces.

Marilyn graduated from Mercy High School and immediately began working for the United States Army Reserves in Omaha. Her duties included being Editor of the unit’s newsletter. Later she had a long and successful career as a Real Estate Property specialist with the Army Corps of Engineers and traveled throughout the United States related to her job duties. She would often remind you that the Corps was a government agency everyone could appreciate “because we get things done. We build dams and bridges that really help people.” Her passions included attending local musical and theatrical productions, especially at the Omaha Playhouse, where she volunteered backstage as a dresser for many years. She was one of four original “Holly Heads” four close friends who were passionate about Omaha music legend Billy McGuigan. 30 years ago, they helped spread word of his special talent to friends and family before he was well known to the masses. “Holly Heads” was based on his Buddy Holly shows that launched his career. She also loved attending concerts. Some of her favorites were Billy Joel, George Strait, Alan Jackson and Keith Urban.

Marilyn loved Omaha and Nebraska passionately and the College World Series and University of Nebraska football (and all other Husker sports). It was a great joy of her life to get season tickets for both. She loved to attend games and share her passion for Nebraska sports with family and friends. GBR
