Marilyn Joyce Mathews Carlson, of Omaha, Nebraska, died on November 30th, 2021.  She was born on November 26, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska to George D. Kunz and Dorothy Ruth (Johnson) Kunz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband of 46 years, Donald J. Mathews; sister, Corky Claytor; and grandson, Richard Andrew Onken.  She is survived by her husband, Ray Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Thomas G. Mathews of Omaha, Nebraska; two daughters, Diane M. Barton and Barbara Jean Onken of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, James Kunz of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Carol Barry of Omaha, Nebraska; and ten grandchildren.

VISITATION: Saturday, December 11th at 9am with a ROSARY at 9:45am and MASS OF CRISTIAN BURIAL at 10am and a luncheon, all at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific Street.  On-line condolences may be made at https://heafeyheafey.com/marilyn-j-mathews/

She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.  She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and having good times with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband of 46 years, Donald J. Mathews; sister, Corky Claytor; and grandson, Richard Andrew Onken.  She is survived by her husband, Ray Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Thomas G. Mathews of Omaha, Nebraska; two daughters, Diane M. Barton (Doug) of Omaha, Nebraska, Barbara Jean Onken (Rich) of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, James Kunz (Marsha) of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Carol Barry (John) of Omaha, Nebraska; and ten grandchildren.

Visitation, Rosary, Mass, and a luncheon will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, 11802 Pacific Street, Omaha, NE 68154 on December 11, 2021. VISITATION will be at 9:00 a.m., ROSARY will be held at 9:45 a.m., MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at 10:00 a.m., and a luncheon will follow Mass at the Parish Center.

“The family request no flowers please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.”

    Marilyn was a dear friend and neighbors. My condolences to Ray and Marilyn’s family.

    Marilyn was my CCD teacher at St. Richards in 1964 she was a wonderful lady and mother. My thought and prayers for the family.

    Marilyn was the only grandmother that our kids really got to know. Her kindness is something we will all remember. I want to personally thank Marilyn’s family for sharing her with us all of these years. And our deepest sympathy to them for the loss of a mother and friend. The Mattaliano and Fox families
