Marilyn Rae (Christensen) Carlson, 78, of Omaha, NE, died Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Papillion Manor in Papillion, NE.

Marilyn was born on August 11, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ronald and Mabel Christensen.  After living in Ulen, MN during her early elementary years, she moved to Babbitt, MN in 1956, where she met her future husband, Craig Carlson, in 6th Grade.  Craig and Marilyn were married on January 22, 1966.

Marilyn graduated from Moler Barber College in Fargo, ND with a master barber license, becoming only the second female in the state to achieve that level of certification.  After moving to Minneapolis, MN, she had daughter Michele in 1972 and Heather in 1974.

The family moved to Omaha, NE in 1977.  Marilyn worked and volunteered for Omaha Public schools for nearly a decade before starting her own business, Just Plain Country, in 1984.  The next thirteen years saw her traveling to over six states selling her homemade crafts.

Marilyn loved to cook and try new recipes.  She was an avid reader and was a member of her church’s book club and women’s Bible study group.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Mabel Christensen.  She is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, Craig Carlson; daughters Michele (Lyle) Jaixen and Heather (Scott) Wilson; grandsons Jacob Wilson (Raven McKenzie), Jonathan Jaixen, Trevor (Makenna) Jaixen, Zach Jaixen; great-grandsons Sebastian McKenzie and Eddie Jaixen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, from 5-7 p.m. at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha, Ne. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29 at 11 a.m. at Rejoice Lutheran Church, 2556 S 138th St, Omaha, NE with a luncheon to follow.
