Marjorie Ann (Peterson) Niedbalski

Marjorie Ann (Peterson) Niedbalski was born in Norfolk, Nebraska, the youngest of four siblings; and the first sibling to be born in the hospital. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Louis Niedbalski; son, Lonnie Niedbalski; parents; two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dennis Bailey; grandsons and their spouses, Scott (Kristi) Mortensen and Brad (Eva) Mortensen; great-grandchildren: Brianna Mortensen, Ally Mortensen, Brandon Alexander, Kaitlyn Hall, and Madilyn Mortensen.

After graduation from Stanton, Nebraska High School, she taught elementary school at Bigia Country School. She met Louis Niedbalski through a friend in 1942, and married three months later. While Louis was in the Army, Marjorie spent time in Washington state during his assignment there. After returning, they farmed until moving to Omaha in 1956. She trained as a key punch operator and worked at Safeway Foods and Fairmont Foods until retirement.

She and Louis were active in the Eagles Club for many years  and enjoyed camping with friends and traveling in their RV. She loved fishing, and together they enjoyed many fishing trips throughout the country. After Louis’s death, she stayed active through the Corrigan Senior Center. Weekly bingo, pizza, and tacos were her favorites.

She moved to Skyline Retirement Center in 1998, but continued her South Omaha friendships until moving to Laurie, Missouri in 2015. She lived at the Laurie Care Center until her death.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be on Saturday, February 3rd at 10:30am at the West Center Chapel. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to The Mothers’ Shrine, St. Patrick Church, Laurie, Missouri.
