She was born on March 31, 1926 in Galesburg, Illinois. At the age of one, her sweet loving mother, Gladys Louise Kerr Shinn and her loving father, Forrest Streator Shinn, moved to Aurora, Illinois where she was raised. Marnie and Bob married in Aurora in 1948, and in 1950 they moved to Omaha where Bob worked for the University of Nebraska and Marnie continued her writing. For years they lived in Dundee where they had a son, Eric, and a daughter, Julia. They moved to west Omaha in 1968, living in the same house for 46 precious years. Marnie was a very successful writer of short stories. She was published in many magazines such as Redbook, Woman’s Day, and Ladies’ Home Journal.
