Marjorie J. “Marge” Thielen
November 25, 1926 – January 15, 2021
Marge was born on Thanksgiving Day in Pilot Grove Township, Iowa to Elmer and Flora Kasch. She grew up on their farm with sisters Bette, Beryl, Marilyn and brother, Gordon. She graduated from Elliott High School where “Magic Marge” played basketball. Following her graduation, she moved to Omaha with her sister, Marilyn, to work.
In Omaha, she met Bob Thielen, and they married on May 10, 1952. They had five children, Barbara, Mary, twins Terry and Tom, and John. She worked at a variety of administrative positions, including Allied Mills, Fleetline Body and Creighton University Medical School Admissions. She enjoyed playing tennis at Miracle Hills, her Miller and Elmwood Park golf leagues, and up until it was cancelled in March 2020, playing cribbage weekly in her Millard Cribbage League. She and Bob enjoyed dining out, especially at Ross’ Steak House, and travel for his job with Union Pacific Railroad. He predeceased her on November 17, 1986.
She is survived by her children: Barbara (Steve Iverson), Mary (Tom Wakeley), Terry (Kelly), Tom (Jeanne), and John (Anne); grandchildren: Robbie (Sara) Thielen, Michael (Elizabeth) Thielen, Andrew (Taylor) Thielen, Jacob Thielen, Joel (Colleen) Thielen, Jon Thielen (fiancée, Kory Gardner), Zach (Celena) Thielen, Aly Thielen, Madi Thielen; great grandchildren: Danny, Joey and Cecilia Thielen, William and Addy Thielen, Michael, Margot and Kate Thielen, Caylee and Violet Thielen.
She was predeceased by her siblings, and is survived by her sister-in-law, Ellie Kasch, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. After suffering a stroke on January 11, 2021, she passed away at Hospice House on January 15, 2021.
A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5pm to 8pm at Anthony’s Steak, 7220 “F” Street, Omaha, NE. She requested that any memorials be donated to your favorite charity.

Many prayer out to the entire Thielen family! Marge was a great lady who was always a treat to be around. I always enjoyed seeing your mom and she always treated me like I was part of your family. She will be greatly missed! Prayers and hugs to all! Tony Childers

I’m sorry to hear about Marge, but I can’t help but smile thinking about her, Bob, my mom & dad and the rest of the U.P. gang up in heaven laughing and having a few drinks.
