Mark E. Schiffmann

Mark E. Schiffmann

February 22, 1954 – September 11, 2018

Mark Elmer Schiffmann was born on February 22, 1954 in Minneapolis, MN. He was the eldest son of Elmer Alfred and Maurine Malvina Schiffmann. Mark lived in Minneapolis until age 21, before his job transferred him for a short 2-year stint in Kansas. Mark moved to Omaha with Walgreens where he met and fell deeply in love with a young pharmacist named Deb. They were married on April 4, 1987 and began to raise their family together. Mark fathered three sons; Mark Tyler, Daniel John, and Matthew Elmer. To Mark, his family always came first. He cherished his wife and sons. Mark enjoyed golf, reading, astronomy, bridge, old monster movies, Minnesota sports, but most of all vacationing with his family. He had a goal of seeing all the major league ballparks in the United States and nearly accomplished that goal prior to his death. After 41 years with Walgreens, he retired. During retirement, Mark focused his attention on traveling with his wife, playing golf twice a week or more, reading books, playing bridge and volunteering through his church. On April 2, 2018 Mark was diagnosed with renal cancer. Mark passed away in the comfort of his home late in the evening of September 11, 2018 with his wife Deb by his side as he met our Lord. Mark was taken from us far too soon. His kindness and huge heart will be missed. Rest in Peace.

Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Maurine; brother, Dane. Survived by wife, Deb; children: Mark Tyler Schiffmann, Daniel John Schiffmann, and Mathew Elmer Schiffmann; sister, Dawn Currier (Carlyle).

VISITATION begins Monday, September 17th at 10am at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 15002 Blondo, followed by SERVICES at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please bring a canned good for donation to the Omaha Food Bank.

    Deb and boys-
I’m so very sorry about the passing of your loving and devoted husband and father. Mark had such a good heart and took great pride in his loving family. He just beamed with joy and was so very proud of you boys, even when you were all so young. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. May Angels lead him in. God bless you all.

My condolences, dear family. Many happy memories of Mark be with you. And may these loving promises from Jehovah God comfort you now, and in the future, for He will bring a future free from sickness and death. “Do not be anxious….but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7; Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:3-5 New World Translation
