September 4, 1935 – December 5, 2023

Mary A. Stoner (Murphy), age 88, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on December 5, 2023.

She was the oldest of ten children and raised on a farm in Weeping Water, NE. Mary and Bill met in Lincoln and were married for 61 years before he passed in 2021. They lovingly raised a son Greg and two daughters Suzanne and Lisa. Mary was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was both a homemaker and a bookkeeper in the restaurant and insurance industries. She was an active member of the catholic faith all the days or her life.

Preceded in death by her devoted husband Bill; parents, Joseph and Ann Murphy; brothers: Joe, Jerry, and Jim Murphy; and sister, Kathleen Murphy.

Survived by: Greg Stoner (Shelly), Suzanne Pieper (Mark), Lisa Whorley (Rob); grandchildren: Sean Stoner (Laura), Sarah Stoner, Alex Pieper, Emily Pieper, Brett Whorley (Alex), and Laura Whorley; two great grandchildren, Lydia and Murray Stoner; and brothers: Charles, Mike, Steve, and John Murphy; and sister, Marge Voyles.

Family will receive friends Sunday, December 10th from 2-4PM at West Center Chapel with a Vigil Service at 4PM.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, December 11th, 10:30AM at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church

Interment: Voss Mohr Cemetery

Memorials may be directed to the family.

    Mary will be remembered as a sweet, kind and caring person. Always stylish with her personality, dress and a head of hair always done to the nines. My deepest sympathies to you Greg, Sue, Lisa and your family’s.

    Condolences to the family! Over the years when I would visit my sister Fran Witt, I would enjoy seeing Mary. Such a sweet lady. My family makes her egg casserole that she served at shower for Jodie Witt.
