Mary Alice Pfeifer, age 86 of Omaha, Nebraska and formerly of Humphrey, Nebraska died on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Esprit Whispering Ridge in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mary Alice was born to Richard and Charlotte (Foy) Grady on July 16, 1934.  She married Melvin Pfeifer on October 25, 1958 in Platte Center, Nebraska.  She and Melvin raised their 5 children on their family farm just outside of Humphrey, Nebraska.  Mary Alice was very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed her Irish music, collectibles and always proudly wore her green on St. Patrick’s Day.  She had many hobbies and interests including playing cards, gardening, ballroom dancing and more.

Following her grandkids activities through the years was something she and Melvin thoroughly enjoyed.  Her kids and grandkids meant the world to her and hated missing anything.  She was also an avid St. Francis Flyers fan and enjoyed attending games up until a few weeks before her passing.  St. Francis and the entire Humphrey community were near and dear to her heart.

She is survived by her children: Doug Pfeifer (Doris) of Lincoln, Sheila Hayes (Michael) of Lincoln, Chris Korth (the late Paul) of Omaha, Sharon Labenz (Kurt) of Gretna and Jeff Pfeifer (Amy) of Lincoln; grandchildren: Jonathan Pfeifer, Allison Kolling, Molly Namie, Patrick Hayes, Meghan Mackie, Mikala Deuel, Andy Labenz, Ross Labenz, Reid Labenz, Emily Pfeifer, Elizabeth Pfeifer and Laura Pfeifer; great-grandchildren: Henry Kolling, Mara, Alexander and Ruthie Namie, Camden Labenz and Cashton Mackie; sister-in-law, Nance Grady; brother-in-law, Luke Hanke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alvin and Margaret Pfeifer; brother-in-law, Gene Labenz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin; parents, Richard and Charlotte Grady; brother, Chuck Grady; sister, Carolyn Hanke; and son-in-law, Paul Korth.

VISITATION following CDC Guidelines: Sunday, November 1st from 2pm to 3pm, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church (15353 Pacific St.) followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 3pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Monday, November 2nd, 10:30am, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Monday, 2pm, St. Francis Cemetery in Humphrey, Nebraska.  Memorials will be directed by the family.

    She lived an amazing full life surrounded by loving family. She was a very strong woman and she will be missed by so many. I send my deepest condolences and I am so sorry for her passing.

    We are saddened to hear of the loss of Aunt Mary. I have many happy memories of all the family gatherings we shared throughout the years. Our prayers for strength are with all the members of her family during this difficult time.

    Mama Mary i can’t think enough because when I remember your death you make me think there’s nothing in this life. Mary is the kind of person that gets straight to the point, she always listens to me and I listen to her.The place i worked before they always call her Yinka mum because we loves each other I was so depressed when one of her daughters called me that my mama passed on.May soul rest in perfect peace. I will missed you mama Mary.
