Mary B. Sailors
February 24, 1952 – January 6, 2025
Mary Beth attended ICC grade school, went to South High School & attended college at UNO. She began working in the medical field as a phlebotomist at University Hospital and continued in the UNMC hospital system until she retired as a Surgery Coordinator. She had a great love for medicine and meeting new patients!
Mary Beth married John Sailors and they had a son, KC (Kenneth Cody) who was the light of her life! She took great pride in the man he had become and his devotion to her was evident as he cared for her during her health issues this past year! John was diagnosed with cancer after their marriage had ended and she welcomed him back into their home caring for him until he passed in 2009. Her big heart and kindness for others was apparent to all who knew her.
She was very close with her sisters Karen and Cathy and they spent most of their time together until Cathy passed away in 2011 and Karen in 2015.
Mary Beth loved her pets! She had several Shih Tzu puppies that she treated like her children. Taking them to the “beauty shop” for grooming and getting their nails painted to dog sweaters and outfits! She is survived by 2 cats, Shadow AND Turo and her new rescue puppy, Bella!
Mary died after a hard-fought battle with cancer surrounded by her friends & family and of course her beloved KC was with her when she took her last breath.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sailors; mother, Elaine Anderson; sisters, Karen and Cathy Anderson.
Survived by son, KC Sailors; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Margaret Sailors; loving pets: Shadow, Turo, and Bella; many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral Mass: Monday, January 13, 2025, 10:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

So sorry f for your loss.
My sincere sympathy to KC, her son. He was her everything. He took care of her through her struggling illness.
Mary and I spent much time on the phone. She was so caring when I was ill last summer. She really cared for people. She loved life but was ready to go to her next place. I was so happy we got to have our hair done together and have lunch this summer.
May you rest in peace my dear friend! I will miss you greatly.
Mary Beth and I have been close friends since we were in our early 20s, and I am heartbroken that I will no longer be able to talk with her, but I am comforted that she no longer in is pain. She loved her son KC more than anyone on earth could ever love someone, so I hope that KC can in time heal with her loss. I will always miss you, my dear friend.
