Mary Rossbach passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on December 13.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Rossbach of Omaha, Nebraska, parents, Roy and Josephine Clauser of Delphi, Indiana.  She is survived by daughters: Cathy Leak (Gary); Joann Dunham (Merl), Susan Shrode (W. Scott); sons, Tom Rossbach (Judy), Phil Rossbach (Terri); grandchildren: Scott Leak (Johanna), Karin Mussman (Grant), Greg Precht (Katie), Sara Jones (Oliver), Charlie Shrode (Kirstin), Emily McKinley, Katie Rossbach, Adam Rossbach (Ashley), Jackie Schultz (Jason), Diane Jones (Jason), Dan Rossbach, Lauren Nellamattathil (Mike); and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mary was born in Delphi, Indiana, where she was nurtured by her parents and schooled at St. Joseph Catholic Church and School where she was valedictorian of the class of ’45.  She attended Purdue University and pursued a degree in Home Economics while performing music and participating in Newman Club.  Mary graduated in 1949.

While at Purdue, Mary met the love of her life, Joe, and they were married on September 10, 1949.  They celebrated 63 years of marriage before Joe’s passing in 2013.  Mary and Joe delighted in their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and their accomplishments.  They enjoyed travels with Friendship Force meeting people around the world and were avid bridge players and loved gathering with lifelong friends.

Mary utilized her degree and love of cooking with Omaha Public Schools as Manager of Burke High School Cafeteria and as the Assistant Food Service Director of OPS for 19 ½ years.  She loved to sew and often did so for friends and family.  Mary led her daughters through 4-H.  Her other volunteer activities included service as a part of the Bergan Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and secretary for Jesuit Middle School.

Mary and Joe were both Eucharistic Ministers at St. Robert’s Parish and often took communion to the sick.

In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to donate to the Jesuit Academy of Omaha or CUES (Christian Urban Education Service) in Mary’s name.
