Mary Catherine “Cak” Bopp
December 16, 1926 – April 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Catherine “Mary Cak” Bopp, 94, of Omaha, Nebraska.
Mary was born in Spalding, Nebraska to Marie (Sullivan) and Tom Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Kevin, her beloved husband, Edward, and her siblings, Michael Murphy and Ellen (Murphy) McClellan. She is survived by her children: Kathleen (Bill) Gump, Dan (Lauren) Bopp, Tim Bopp, Karen Bopp, Mike (Chris Bopp), and Dennis (Natalie) Bopp; eleven beautiful grandchildren; six delightful great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty (Guido) Rindone, Sally Kavalec, and Tom (Nancy) Murphy; and brother-in-law, John Thomas (Carol) Bopp.
Mary grew up in Spalding and married Ed “Joker” Bopp there on September 12, 1955. They lived and raised their six children in Omaha.
Nothing gave her greater joy than being surrounded by friends and family, whether at home (where our door was always open, literally and figuratively) or traveling. She visited loved ones from Alaska to Austria with stops in California, Arizona, Wyoming, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, Kentucky, and many more.
Her other loves were ushering at the Holland Center and the Orpheum Theater and playing a spirited game of bunco with a group of enthusiastic friends.
Mary will be remembered for her warm hospitality, generosity, humor, and words of wisdom. Mom, our hearts are heavy, we miss you beyond measure.
VISITATION observing CDC guidelines will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 11am to 12noon at the West Center Chapel, with a MEMORIAL SERVICE at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. To view the live stream of the Memorial Service, please go to www.heafeyheafey.com and click the “View Live Cast” button on the home page. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Covenant House or Columban Fathers.

My Great Aunt Cak was such a kind and loving lady. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Condolences to the Bopp family, she was a good mom, we know because her youngest son Dennis, is our son-in-law, she knew we are proud of him. Thank you for the memories Mary, mrs Bopp, you will be missed, rest in pease.
I met Mary when we were members of the original bunco group. Later, I always enjoyed seeing her when she would come In to the library where I was working. She was warm, friendly, and a treasure to know.

Forever in our hearts. Love you mom.
Kathy , Bill , and family. My heart goes out to you during this time of sorrow. Your mother was always gracious and welcoming whenever I visited your childhood home. As a teen I was happy to know that we had the same first names.
I always felt welcomed in the Bopp home, enjoyed my friendship with Kathy. I very much enjoyed the teasing, warmth & love I saw between Mr. & Mrs. Bopp! Denise (Eischeid) Kean
Mrs Bopp was a mom to all the kids who grew up on 42nd Street. Growing up next door to the Bopps was one of the highlights of growing up in the neighborhood. She is loved by all the Cutshall Family and will be greatly missed.
We all loved her very much. So sorry for your loss. She will be missed.
