Mary Elizabeth (Ross) DeWall was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 3, 1947 to Dave and Cloe Ross. She was raised in Remsen, Iowa along with her eight siblings: Pat, Susie, Kathy, Bob, Bart, Jeff, John, and Steve. Mary attended Remsen St. Mary’s High School. She then attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa.
Mary’s greatest blessings in life were her two daughters, Jackie (DeWall) Krier born July 12, 1970, and Amy DeWall born July 1, 1981. Throughout
the years Mary worked at Transcontinental, Boys Town, and Kohls as a second job until she retired. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mary loved spending her time with family and friends; she was also very interested in photography, journalism, politics, reading, and traveling to San Francisco, New Orleans, and Maine. She loved her Iowa Hawkeyes football team almost as much as she loved her grandsons’ Charter Oak-Ute football team and youngest grandson’s wrestling team. Mary especially enjoyed her Okoboji trips with her family, but most of all, Mary loved her two daughters, Jackie and Amy, and her five grandchildren: Tiffany, Joey, Jay, Cloe, and Joseph. 
Mary is survived by her daughters, Jackie (DeWall) Krier of Soldier, IA, and Amy DeWall of Omaha; her five grandchildren: Tiffany (Armonda) Krier of Mapleton, IA Joey (Shae) Krier of Soldier, IA, Jay (Casey) Krier of Soldier, IA, Cloe (Eian) Krier of Soldier, IA, and Joseph DeWall of Omaha; her eight siblings: Pat (Dan) Lindell of Omaha, Susie (Bernie) Shanahan of Omaha, Kathy (Mike) Kellen of Omaha, Bob (Jenny) Ross of Omaha, Bart (Molly) Ross of Butte, MT, Jeff Ross of Omaha, John (Maureen) Ross of Omaha, Steve (Tammy) Ross of Omaha, and many, many nieces and nephews whom she adored. Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father Cloe and Dave Ross; her nephew, Christopher Kellen; Aunt Liz and Uncle Bob Manning; Grandma and Grandpa Determan.
