Mary “Jane” Lempka

Mary “Jane” Lempka

January 30, 1933 – September 15, 2024

After a life well lived, Mary “Jane” Lempka joined our Lord and her husband, Fran, on September 15th.  Jane was born in Steinauer, Nebraska, to Walter and Eulalia “Lale” Huff and grew up in Tecumseh, Nebraska, where she graduated from Tecumseh High School.

Jane married Francis “Fran” Lempka on April 21, 1955.  They lived most of their married life in Lincoln, Nebraska, raising four children: Kim, Pat, Tom and Joe.  Although Jane did some part-time work out of the house, most of her time was spent raising their children.

Jane made family a priority, having many family gatherings over holidays, birthdays, or just to enjoy a good home-cooked meal and get the family together.

Jane became known for a subtle but sharp sense of humor that she honed over her 91 years on this earth.  She made friends wherever she went and was always ready with an easy smile, to make everyone feel welcome and at home.

In her later years, Jane did volunteer work with several organizations, in particular Meals on Wheels; sometimes delivering meals to people younger than her.  She loved playing bridge and as time went on she became the “designated driver” for several in her bridge club.

The family always teased Jane that she was never able to sit still.  She was game for just about any adventure. She loved traveling with family and traveling to visit family.

Jane will be missed by all who knew and loved her including daughter, Kim (Greg, deceased) Siaperas of Waterloo Nebraska; sons: Patrick (Nickie) Lempka of Lenexa, Kansas, Tom (Denise) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Joe (Kacey) of Waterloo, Nebraska; as well as her seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dale (Yvonne) Huff of Omaha, Nebraska, and Walter (Peg) Huff of Lincoln, Nebraska.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Corky.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet Jane. I loved getting to know her and Kim this past few months at the Country House. It doesn’t feel the same without them. Prayer for you all.
