Mary Jo (Polt) Putjenter

PUTJENTER, Mary Jo (Polt) Nov 8, 1924 – Aug 21, 2013 Mary Jo was born on the Polt family farm in Pierce Nebraska on November 08, 1924 to Joseph and Elizabeth Polt. She and her husband Duane, raised six children. When Duane passed away suddenly in 1989, Mary Jo continued on bravely. She was an active parishioner of Christ the King Church for over 40 years, serving as Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, past President of the Ladies Guild, Nocturnal Adoration Society and lector. She adored Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament every Tuesday morning from 4:00am to 6:00am and co-lead the rosary every weekday morning after 6:30 Mass. Mary Jo was also a member of a private rosary group of dear friends for over 30 years. In 2009 she was honored by the Omaha Urban Council of Catholic Women as Outstanding Catholic Woman of the Year. Mary Jo was also a devoted member of the Third Order of Franciscans. A member of the Pro-Life Committee, she was persistent and organized in promoting pro-life events, e.g. Respect Life Sunday, the Living Rosary, the Mother’s Day ad in the World Herald, and the National Night for Life. In her younger days she was a square-dance caller and dance teacher. A talented cake decorator and teacher, she made many beautiful wedding and birthday cakes for family and friends. Mary Jo was famous in the neighborhood at Halloween for her popcorn balls. She was Blue House’s biggest fan (her son Joe’s band). Never complaining, Mary Jo was always patient with her own physical suffering and encouraged others who were suffering or in need. Beloved mother of Judy Shepard, Joe (Lisa) Putjenter, Janet (Ernie) East, Jayne (Steve) Meehan, Jacquie (Tim) Guzinski, and Jeff Putjenter. Devoted Grandmother to Arron (deceased), Andy, Adam (deceased) Shepard and Charles Cunningham; Daniel Putjenter; Stephanie and Sara Meehan; Blake Putjenter; Emily and Noah Guzinski. Loving sister to Art (deceased) and (Rose Ann) Polt, Lawrence (Marian) Polt, Greg (Joy) Polt, Paul Polt, Doug (Dawn) Polt, Karen (Jim) Bellamy and Jane (Doug) Koehler. Always cheerful and with a smile, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 25th from 5pm to 6:30 pm with VIGIL SERVICE at 6:30pm at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL MONDAY, August 26th at 10am, Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Right to Life or Masses. .

    i was always happy to see all of the family when i was in Omaha you are and always will be missed
