She met her future husband, Virgil, after her sister convinced her to correspond with him while he served in WWII. They were married in Missouri Valley, Iowa on February 15, 1947.
Mary was an artist specializing in oils and watercolors, a member of St. James Catholic Church and The Legion of Mary for years, and a resident at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home for the past 15 years. She loved to paint, tell stories, fish, travel to other countries, say the Rosary, do Adoration, attend WWI Reunions with Virgil, make crafts and handmade gifts for others, place bets and play cards, reminisce about good friends and family, and spend her time with Virgil.
