Mary Lou Battaglia

Mary Lou Battaglia

June 25, 1936 – November 20, 2022

Mary Lou Battaglia left us on Sunday, November, 20th.  Mary was born on June 25, 1936, here in Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Madeline Shaffer, and her beloved brother, Bob Shaffer.
Mary is survived by her husband and love of her life, Tony Battaglia; five children: Mike Battaglia, Kathy Allee, Shari Swanson (Carl), Margaret Vacek (Andy), and Mark Battaglia (Michelle); twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She leaves behind so many friends who remain besties since kindergarten. Three things that best describe Mary: faith, family and friends.  She loved spending time with others since talking was her favorite thing to do, and she was  known as a social butterfly.  She could often be found in the kitchen with family and friends, and at grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. But most of all, Mary was a natural caregiver and always put others before and made sure everyone was taken care of.  She will remain in our hearts forever and ever.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Creighton Prep, Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, or Catholic Daughters .

VISITATION: Monday, November 28th from 9:30am to 11am at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St., followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 11am.  Interment, Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Creighton Prep, Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, or Catholic Daughters.

Mary you were the best mom and raised one of my favorite people ever! You taught your kids so much over the years and your tight knit family is a testimony of the love they were surrounded with. Your legacy will live on forever through your Children and the example of how a human should be. Rip Mary

What a beautiful tribute to Mary. It describes her perfectly. The loss of A person like Mary leaves a deeper hole in our lives.
