Mary Lucille Berman, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2025, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary was a constant source of love, strength, and support to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and selflessness that touched the lives of many. Known for her warm sense of humor, Mary welcomed everyone to her kitchen table for a cup of coffee, a good meal, and heartfelt advice.
Mary was born on June 2, 1940, in Hamburg, IA. She later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she met and married her beloved husband, Jerry Berman. Together, they raised two daughters, Ann Rohren and Ida Berman Cohoon, in the city they called home.
Mary worked in a hair salon with her best friend, Coni. The two of them were known for being the heart and soul of the establishment- ensuring that everything ran smoothly and that everyone felt seen, heard, and cared for.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Berman; her parents, Oliver James Armstrong and Freda Armstrong; her brother, Richard Armstrong; and her sister, Marilyn Johns.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Ann Rohren (Kurt) and Ida Berman Cohoon (Larry); her grandchildren, Michael Rohren, Emily Rohren, and Nate Cohoon; and her sister, Joyce Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that is dear to the Berman family.
A private burial will take place, with a celebration of Mary’s life to be held with family at a later date.
