HALL-HILDEBRAND, Mary R., Feb 8, 1916 Nov 6, 2009. Dr. Mary R. Hall Hildebrand returned to her loving Creator on Nov 6, 2009. She was preceded in death by her first husband, H. Douglas Hall, and is survived by their children: Rev. Douglas Hall; Richard Hall and daughter-in-law Kathleen Hall, Marilyn Hall, Catherine (Sebastian) Raneri. Also preceded in death by her second husband, Charles Doran Hilde Hildebrand, and survived by his children: Virginia (Richard) Morrison, Charles (Maryfrancis) Hildebrand, Dr. Richard (Rhonda) Hildebrand. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In 1939 she received her B.A. from Franklin College with 2 majors, Home Economics and Latin, and then worked for the Singer Company. In 1943 she received a M.A. in Art History from the University of Chicago and started teaching at universities in Texas and New York. She began teaching at the University of Nebraska in 1946. In 1960 she began teaching at Duchesne College. In 1966 she became the Home Economist for the Douglas County Extension Office; then the Federal Expanded Food and Nutrition Program began in 1968 and her account of that in Douglas County was published in the Journal of Home Economics. In 1969 she returned to the University of Omaha. In 1973 she received her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska and was named Associate Dean of the College of Home Economics and Education at UNO. In 1979 she retired, and in 1983 she and her husband, “Hilde, moved to Green Valley, AZ, where she lived until her return to Omaha in 2008. The family will receive friends Monday, Nov 9, 6pm-8pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the West Center Chapel. FUNERAL MASS Tuesday, 10am, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 74th & Hascall. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Joan of Arc Catholic School.
