Mary Virginia “Ginna” Bruning
December 8, 1949- December 4, 2024
Ginna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was blessed with the opportunity to help raise her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She loved teaching and held a special place in her heart for her pre- schoolers. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and friends. Ginna cherished the months she spent with Phil in Florida, spending time at the beach and going to ballgames. Ginna met Phil when she was 12 years old, and he was 14. God blessed them with 57 years of marriage, three children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents William and Jeanne Bast; sister, Kathy Tocco; brothers, Bill Bast and Paul Bast.
She is survived by beloved husband, Phil; son, Brian Bruning( Stephanie); daughters, Jennifer Bilyeu ( Tom), Allsion Bruning; grandchildren, Molly Pofahl ( Tyler), Max Bruning; great-grandchildren, Kash Pofahl, Hank Pofahl, Cooper Pofahl; sisters, Nancy Bretz ( David), Sue Jensen( Ted), Julie Hack ( Carter), Annie Brown ( Carson); brothers, Joe Bast (Kerry), Matt Bast (Monique), Tom Bast (Jean); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and grand- pup, Bubba.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, December 10, 2024, 11:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific Street, Omaha with VISITATION from 9:30-11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to St. Croix Hospice, St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Parish or St. Patrick Catholic Parish, Elkhorn, NE.
INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery

Ginna was wonderful and she was 2 yrs behind me at Marian….susans little sister so we saw her a lot thru the sisters! Have heard about all their great trips and closeness we all envy.. sending hugs and prayers to all her family. Jackie cramer gerard
Where do I begin – my life has been made more FULL because of this wonderful person – BLESSED because of not only the example this wonderful person gave to me – COURAGE & STRENGTH that she always permeated that in good times and bad – she lead me thru both those times – but today I will miss her more than the world can know – God gave me a gift that grew as a young adult to where I am right know – I thank him every day for Ginna my friend thru Hang Gliding when we only weighed 110lb to today when life was tough I was weak but she was strong – I am blessed to have her for my friend – she still is watching over me in HEAVEN XXXXXOOO

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear sister, Ginna. I was classmate of Susan’s at Marian and spent fun times at the Bast family home. Rest in peace, dear Ginna.
