Clark Gary Mathisen Oct 18, 1934 – Jul 1, 2016 Preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Bertha Mathisen; sister, Dorothy Meyers. Survived by wife, Joan Mathisen; children: Dean Mathisen of Omaha, Dana Warsocki of Minot, ND, Daniel Mathisen of Colleyville, TX; five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Mathew, and Michael Warsocki, Katie and Mike Mathisen; sister, Doris Rasmussen of Harlan, IA; two nieces and one nephew. Clark Gary Mathisen was born on October 18 1934 in Elk Horn, Iowa. A 1953 graduate of Atlantic High School in Atlantic, Iowa, he earned varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He attended the University of Iowa from 1953 to 1954, and again from 1958 to 1959. He obtained a bachelor of science (BS) degree in accounting and economics in 1958 from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Alpha. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1954 to 1962, and from 1959 to 1968 was Chief Accountant for Walnut Grove Products in Atlantic, Iowa. He was Manager of Internal Auditing for The Commodore Corporation in Omaha from 1968 to 1970, after which he assumed the role of Executive Vice President for Nebraska Methodist Health Systems/Methodist Hospital from 1970 to 2003, retiring after thirty-three years of service. He was heavily involved in volunteer service in the community, serving as President of the Atlantic, Iowa Jaycees, Vice President of the State of Iowa Jaycees, Chairman of the Cass County, Iowa Red Cross, and Director of the Senior Chamber of Commerce of Atlantic, Iowa. He was Treasurer of the Arbor Heights Community Club, Treasurer of the Danish Immigrant Museum in Elk Horn, Iowa, Treasurer of Morning Star Lutheran Church, and Director of Kiwanis Golden K. He was a member of the Hospital Financial Management Association and the Atlantic, Iowa Elks Club, Chief of Y Indian Guides, and Assistant Troop Leader for Boy Scouts of America. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5th, from 3pm to 7pm at the Bel Air Chapel, 12100 W. Center Rd. SERVICES Wednesday, July 6th at 11am at Morning Star Lutheran Church, 331 S. 85th Ave. GRAVESIDE SERVICE Wednesday, 3pm, Atlantic Memorial Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Morning Star Lutheran Church or Museum of Danish America in Elk Horn, Iowa.
