Melinda Singleton Alexander Hamlin

HAMLIN, Melinda Singleton Alexander Jul 1, 1941 – Apr 4, 2014 Melinda Singleton Alexander Hamlin, age 72, of Bellevue, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2014. She was born on July 1, 1941 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to A. P. and Blanche Alexander. She married Ronald Lee Hamlin (the love of her life) on June 10, 1962. He preceded her in death in 2001. A long-time resident of Bellevue, Nebraska, she graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1959. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Master’s Degree from University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. She taught school for more than twenty-five years at Grace Fellowship Christian School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, receiving the coveted Teacher of the Year Award. Most recently, she taught for four years at Bellevue Christian School. Melinda loved to read her Bible, volunteer at church, play with her youngest grandchildren, travel, watch Sooner football, dance with friends, and walk her dog, Sammy. She is survived by her two daughters, Marjel Whitmore and her husband, Dave Whitmore, and Priscilla Cardenas and her husband, Tim Cardenas, all of Bellevue; eight grandchildren: Annabella, Ben, Elizabeth, Jenny, Joey, Jolene, Lexi, and Tommy; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Walker and her husband, Bruce Walker, of Harlingen, Texas; her sister-in law, Navena Alexander of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; several dear nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, A. P. and Blanche Alexander; brothers, Stevie and Andy. Melinda will be deeply missed by her many friends and family. The family will receive friends Monday, April 7th, from 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE Tuesday, April 8th at 11am at Liberty Christian Center, 5616 “L” Street, followed by a luncheon.

    friends from our time in Tyler, Texas. just today learned of her death. Our sympathy to the family. Our daughter, Tracy, and Marjel played together as very young children. Priscilla was a baby. we are sad to learn that she has gone to her reward.
