Melissa Diane Cecil
July 22, 1986 – November 20, 2023
Heaven gained a very special angel at 4:50 p.m. on November 20, 2023. Melissa Diane Cecil passed away following a brief time in the hospital. Melissa struggled with health conditions throughout her life, but that never took the light out of her eyes or the smile off of her face. She brought such joy to her family and all of those around her. Melissa was born on July 22, 1986, in Omaha, NE. She and her loving mother, Lisa DeLozier, conquered the world together. They always had each other through good times and bad times, and made the best out of every situation. Their best memories were going to the Botanical Gardens in Omaha, eating Mexican food, and listening to the Back Street Boys. One of their fondest memories was going to a Back Street Boys concert together! Melissa loved the color pink, lots of bling, and spending time with her family and friends. There was never a lack of laughter when Melissa was in the room.
Melissa had a special relationship with her grandparents, Jack and Gayle Hytrek, especially with her grandpa. Melissa could always be seen on her grandpa’s lap, playing games, taking walks, and just spending quality time together. As Melissa grew up, she also enjoyed shopping trips with her mom and grandma and loved spending holidays with family. Growing up, Melissa and her cousin, Katie had a special bond over all thing’s girl – nails, hair, makeup, etc. This continued as they grew older, even if they didn’t see each other as much. When they got together, they still had a great time getting “made up.” For the past six years, Melissa has lived in the Mosaic Papillion ICF. She made a lot of friends and was very well taken care of by all of the staff. We will be forever grateful for the care and love that Melissa was shown while living at Mosaic Papillion. Melissa had several doctors throughout her life who always had her best interests at heart, and worked diligently to make her life the best it could be.
Melissa was preceded in death by her cousin, Lyndsey Becker; multiple great-aunts and great-uncles. Melissa is survived by her mother, Lisa (Charles) DeLozier; her grandparents, Jack and Gayle Hytrek; her aunts and uncle: Kristi (Ken) Vicchiollo, Brad Hytrek, Jodi (Dan) Becker; cousins: Sam, Sophie, and Sarah Vicchiollo, Abdu Hytrek, Katie and Johann Becker.
Visitation will be held 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak and Cutler Mortuary, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha. A Celebration of Life is being held at Wildewood Christian Church, 1255 Royal Drive, Papillion, NE, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27. Pastor Ron Wymer will be presiding. People are encouraged to wear pink to honor Melissa. To view a live broadcast of the Service, please visit www.heafeyheafey.com and click the “Live Cast” button at the top of the home page. Memorials will be directed by the family.
We are so thankful for our supportive church family during this time. “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14.

Melissa was a joy to work with, always had a smile and if she didn’t like what you were doing she would let you know. She made my job easier . I only hope her memories will give her family some comfort thur this sad time.I was able to watch the service for Melissa online ( something I’ve never done) it was so nice the pastor had prepared good for this one. The words the readings the songs were beautiful and the last one we know Melissa was dancing along too. Lisa take pride in knowing you raised a beautiful young lady that touched everyone she met.I’ll never forget Melissa she taught me things that I still practice today. Life is short we never know when the lord will come knocking So always treat people with dignity and respect, and always be willing to give a helping hand. God Bless you Melissa
