August 31, 1951 – April 16, 2025

Melvin Scott Baum, aged 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 16, 2025 at Hospice House. He was born on August 31, 1951, in Omaha, NE to parents, Melvin John Baum and June Joan Baum. He was a proud resident of both Omaha, NE as well as Stuart, NE, where he moved after the passing of his parents, before moving back to Omaha in 2024. He loved farm life, westerns, horse racing, Budweiser, and good times spent with those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Baum; daughters, Shelly Montgomery and Keli Baum; son, Adam Baum; granddaughter, Stacy Montgomery and her partner, Shane Alexander;  sisters: Sue Ochoa, Sally Baum, Sherry Hamilton (Jim), and Joanie Schmitt (Tom); as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Melvin and Joan Baum; brothers, Tommy and Johnny Baum.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:30AM, with VISITATION from 9:30-10:30AM, St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 1920 North 102nd St., Omaha, 68114.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Following the Mass at Harold’s Bar, 8558 Blondo Street, Omaha, 68134.

    I’m so sorry to hear of Scottys passing. He was a dear friend of my mother in Stuart. He always had such kind things to say to everyone. His smile and laugh were infectious. He will be greatly missed by many!
