Messangan “Messi” Agbozo
November 12, 1985 – December 6, 2019
Born in Lome, Togo. Loving son, brother, friend and teammate. A devout follower of Christ. He touched the lives of so many and will forever be in our hearts.
Entered into eternal life on December 6, 2019. He was born on November 12, 1985 in Lomé, Togo to Akakpo Agbozo and Adjoavi Tossenou. He grew up with his two brothers, Amah Agbozo and Anani Agbozo. He graduated from Lycee de Nyekonakpoe high school in 2007 and moved to the United States in 2009 to begin work on his college degree at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
While attending school, he was a beloved coworker at Tyson Foods Inc., the UNO Math Lab, and the UNO Engineering Study Stop. He also helped coordinate numerous soccer teams and events within the Omaha community. Teammates lovingly called him “Messi.”
In April of 2016, he was confirmed at St. Gerald Catholic Church, where he went by the name of Christian. He was a very faithful man of deep prayer and reflection and would come to the church and spend time alone before Jesus in the Eucharist. He frequently attended the church’s ministry called Ablaze and would often volunteer his time to help set up and clean up events.
Also in 2016, he cofounded a non-profit called FIAS Association, which over the past 3 years, has helped collect and deliver over 5,000 articles of clothing to people in need in rural Togo.
He graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in Mathematics and moved in June to Lake Charles, Louisiana to start his first full-time engineering job at Kiewit.
He touched the lives of so many and will forever be in our hearts.
