Michael J. Avila

Michael J. Avila

Mike Avila (Michael Joseph Avila) was born on March 17, 1972 in Omaha, Nebraska.

He lived in and loved the Omaha area all his life. He attended Maywood and Marrs Elementary schools, Millard Central middle school and he graduated from Millard South High School in 1990. He had many high school friends, and they have remained close to this day. Mike could call on these friends anytime and they would be there for him. He had a unique ability to connect with others. His heartfelt laughter and loving nature made him a friend to all, ensuring that everyone who crossed his path felt valued and cherished.

Mike worked as a Production Manager at Majors Plastics from 2006 to 2018.

In July 2009, Mike met Nicole (Nikki) Adam at Colosseum Ultra Lounge in Omaha. They were immediately attracted to each other and were married on June 25, 2016. Nikki brought along two sons;  Luq was 7 years old, and Kyler was 2. Mike treated these boys like they were his own. Nikki and Mike enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, going out to dinner and simply spending time together. When Mike began having symptoms 7 years ago, Nikki became his caregiver, taking him to medical appointments and dialysis.

Mike leaves behind his wife, Nicole; sons, Luq & Kyler;  mother, Lori & her husband, Dan; father, Joe; sister, Felisha; brother, Joe & his wife, Niki; and more cousins, nieces, nephews and friends than we can list.

Mike will be deeply missed.

Nicki, I’m so heartbroken for the family. I love y’all more than I can ever express. I’ll always be thankful to have met the man who won your heart and to be there for your wedding. Y’all were a beautiful couple. Your cousin, Jamee

Lori, Joe and Felicia, I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn’t seen Michael for many years, but remember the good times we had as family. I will be keeping all of you in my prayers.
