Michael J. Blum
November 1, 1967 – July 30, 2025
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul F. Blum; and stepson, Joseph A. Kinney.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; son, Charles; stepsons: Max (Karly), Sam, and Peter Kinney; mother, Marietta; sisters, Michelle Madison (Rob), Melinda Berry (Jerad); nephews, Austin and Ethan Berry; niece, Julia Madison; and mother-in-law, Jeannette Maxwell.
Characterized by generous service to others, unwavering work ethic, and finding fun wherever it could be found, Mike’s way was simple, and his life was fully lived. Family and close friends were the most important focus of his life. Ever thoughtful and often inconspicuous, personal gifts, memorable parties, special trips, and wry jokes were his trademark.
All who knew Mike will remember his wit, succinctness, and ability to keep things simple and pragmatic, along with countless unique expressions never heard of or used by anyone else–Blumisms.
Mike was fulfilled by and proud of his professional achievements in fundraising and non-profit development, serving twenty-seven dedicated years with the Steier Group and in the last year of his life at the Stephen Center.
He was a committed member of Alcoholics Anonymous and supported and mentored countless people over the years in their journey toward sobriety.
Believe it or not, Blum was an athlete, with a successful soccer career at Creighton Prep and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He was an avid sports fan with a maddeningly encyclopedic knowledge of sports history and statistics. His passion for music, art, standup comedy, and travel revealed his endless curiosity and open heart.
Mike Blum loved deeply and was deeply loved.

Mike was an amazing man, and I will never forget his kindness and rhe gentle way he had with everyone he met. He was also a boss sweeper and he had a very strong leg in soccer!
Mike was a good soul and he will be missed. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
