Michael James Bazant
June 1, 1947-May 7, 2025
With profound sadness but unshakable hope in Christ, we announce that Michael Bazant passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on May 7th, at the age of 77.
Born in Wahoo, Michael was a man of deep strength, and unwavering faith. He served his country with distinction in the United States Army, where his bravery and sacrifice were recognized with two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. His service was not just a chapter in his life; it was a testament to his courage and honor.
After returning home, Michael built a life of hard work and integrity. He found purpose in construction. He took pride in his craft, believing that honest work was a form of worship. Later in life, with the pace slowing and the mountains calling, he fell in love with Colorado. Surrounded by nature and God’s creation, he discovered a new passion: photography. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a meaningful way to connect with the world. He had a photo published on the front page of Nebraskaland Magazine and numerous other photos posted. Through his lens, he captured the quiet majesty of animals, the beams of light through pine trees, and the kind of beauty that reminded others to pause and give thanks.
He was a devoted husband, a proud stepfather and grandfather, and a loyal friend. A man of few words but great wisdom, Michael lived his faith by example. His life echoed Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; siblings: Jackie Kelley, Allen Bazant, Cheryl Todd, and Dennis Bazant; stepsons: Andy Sawicki Matt Sawicki and Stan Sawicki; twelve step-grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Violet Bazant.
Though he has laid down his tools and set aside his camera, we know he now sees beauty beyond what any lens can capture and hears the words we all long to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

To my precious sister Pat and the Bazant family, Jon and I grieve with you over the loss of Mike. We will miss him, especially his sense of humor (🐴). As we turn to where Mike is now (Heaven), we rejoice. No more pain. Our hope lies in our faith that one day we too will join Mike to see God face to face. Our love and prayers for your strength and comfort during this difficult time will continue.
So sorry to learn of the loss of your loved one.
We never imagine life without our siblings.
With deepest sympathies.
Jody
Long time no see Mike! Thanks for your service my brother!
To our dear friend Pat and her family. We are going to miss Mike so very much. John and I have become closer to Jesus through our times spent with both of you. I don’t know what I’ll do without Mikes texting me throughout a Nebraska game, half funny, half not..lol. We also loved his wildlife photography that he posted online to so many people which included a Bible verse. And John will forever cling to the wooden cross that Mike gave him to help him trust in God through difficult times. I’m sure Mike is with God right now because his Love and trust in God was his number one belief. We will continue to pray for you and your family for peace and comfort in the days ahead. Love you Pat
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I thought of you two often after it became a struggle to make it to St. Benedict. Always beautiful people with a kind heart and I always have uplifting memories when we would talk about our health issues. You will be in my prayers Pat and always remember you have a lot of people at St. Benedict the Moor that remembers you guys and are in our prayers.
I did send an email to all the church members as well as a picture of you guys for those that did not know you all well because they were new to the church.
Your friend forever Ron G
Prayers to the family. Always loved seeing his photographs!
Pat,
Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel in the loss of Mike. The two of you were like family to us. The prayers and Love that was given to us throughout Mom’s journey and after were immeasurable. The Love that the two of you showed us will never be forgotten. Keeping you and your Family lifted in prayer. May perpetual light shine upon Mike in Heaven. Sending Love and condolences.
