It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Mike Pritchard, who left us on Christmas Eve surrounded by his loving family at the age of 82. Mike was born November 23, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska to Joe and Delores Pritchard. He was the only boy in a family with 3 sisters who we have heard kept their lives interesting. He was a talented athlete who loved playing many different sports. Baseball was a favorite and anyone that knew him knows he was a die-hard Yankees Fan. He graduated from Creighton Prep High School where he made many life-long friends, including Fr. Shane. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he graduated with a degree in business. Most of his career was spent in sales.

Throughout his life, Mike cherished his family above all else. He met the love of his life, Barb, on a blind date, and they were married for over 60 years. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Kim, Krissy, Michelle, and Brian. Mike adored his 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He loved to wind them up and send them off with their parents.

His greatest attribute was loving and laughing. Annual trips to Colorado were always memorable with the whole family. As the family grew, the trips continued and were adored by all. It was a ritual to stop on the way at Fort Cody in North Platte to take a picture with “Indian Joe.” The real reason was for Grandpa to pick up practical joke items to play on people on the trip. No one could tell a joke like Mike! He had a gift that not many people have. He would captivate his audience all the way to the end of the joke. His laugh was unforgettable.

There wasn’t a better Santa Clause than Mike. He fit the part perfectly and drove long distances to put smiles on many children’s lives.

Besides his family, Mike was passionate about aviation, hunting and golf. He even worked at a golf course as a Marshall just a few weeks ago.  He volunteered at church and was involved with the Knights of Columbus.

Preceding him in peace were his parents, Joe and Delores; daughter, Krissy.

His family will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Dear Barb, Kim, Michelle and Brian,
Mike was the best Brother any kid could ask for! I loved him deeply and will miss his
Humor, his wit, his kindness and caring I felt growing up with him. Watching all his athletic events-and getting to brag about my “Big Brother Mike” to all my friends. When he worked the late shift at the airport I used to stay up and bake those rolls of chocolate chip cookie dough for him. After he moved out and would come over on Saturday mornings…if I was still asleep he would do everything he could to wake me and he had no boundaries!! If he could embarrass me in any way in front of my friends…yup…if I needed a ride somewhere and he had some odd car…he charged me for the ride! So many memories of good times and bad times—but I adored my big brother Mike and always will. We had some good talks and I will always cherish those times. I know how much he loved all of you and may those memories comfort you all💜

We were so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. We have fond memories of Mike and Barb from IBM days and parties. Donna still talks about volleyball game in your back yard where she got a black eye which she said she had but some guy (can’t remember who) jumped in front of her thinking she couldn’t hit it. We always wished we would have kept in touch. We always loved being around Mike and had many laughs. Our sincere condolences to Barb and family.
