Michael K. McGill, Jr.
June 24, 1982 – August 23, 2020
Michael “Mike” Kevin McGill, Jr. left us unexpectedly on August 23, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 38.
Mike was preceded in death by father, Michael K. McGill and survived by his children, Sam and Abby; mother and stepfather, Cindy and Scot Shales; siblings: Mandy and Adrian Lahs, Matt and Megan, Jeff and Katie, Ryan and Marissa, and Kearstin and Chris Julich; and grandparents, Jerry and Bob Thurber. He was also blessed to have been surrounded by generous and kind uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mike was born on June 24, 1982 in Omaha, Nebraska to Mike and Cindy McGill. He was a hard worker and avid learner, spending many years working for the McGill’s family-owned businesses. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own company, McGill Masonry.
Alongside his professional achievements, Mike built a beautiful family. In fact, he would agree that welcoming into the world and caring for his two children, Sam and Abby, were his greatest accomplishments and first priority.
Those who know him know he was creative. It took him nearly no time to rewrite the lyrics of a song to something that had those within earshot – often his brothers – laughing. His creativity and ingenuity found its way into pranks that might have had questionable results but made for incredible stories. His family and friends will always remember the laughter that followed Mike and appreciate that it was his habit to create it.
VISITATION following CDC guidelines: Wednesday, August 26th from 5pm to 7pm, at the West Center Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, August 27th, 1pm, Flatland Church (4801 N 144th St.) INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the McGill Children Education Fund.

Mike was bar none the hardest working man I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Not many like him …fly high brother.
So sorry. You are all in my prayers.
I only just meet Mike on the day my son Adrian and Mandy were married. For only knowing Mike for such a short time I feel I lost a close friend. Mike was so happy that day giving his big sister away. Remembering that day gives me so much joy to had met Mike for the first time. I am so sorry for your lost. He will be deeply missed by his children, family and friends. Mike was such a joy to talk to. And when he talk about his children his eyes would light up. You will be in my thoughts and prayers always.
So sorry to hear Cindy. This is a terrible loss. Your Smith cousins send their best wishes. Hugs to all..
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family – so very sorry to hear the news about Mike.
I’m sorry to say, Bobbie and I only new Mike for a relatively short period of time. It didn’t take long however to admire his outgoing and friendly personality. He brought life and fun to the party and was obviously so in love with his kids and family. His laugh and constant smile made that very apparent to all around him. This week, we’ll all get to learn more great things about Mike we wish we would have known or asked before but unfortunately, that’s how it works sometimes. One of life’s teaching lessons I guess. We hurt for his family and friends knowing how much he will be missed by all of us. Missed but always remembered. Our love and strength to Cindy, Scot and the McGill family. Sincerely, Todd and Bobbie Johnson
