GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Monday, August 13th at 9am at Omaha National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 331.  Following the Graveside Service: CELEBRATION OF LIFE at Calvary Christian Church, 10100 Cedar Island Road, Bellevue 68123.  Memorials are suggested to Open Door Mission Veterans’ Program.

Michael Robert Goodwin passed away peacefully at his home in Omaha, NE, on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Michael is survived by his wife, Frances; two daughters, Mary and Cara; four grandchildren: Joey and his wife Olivia, Maggie, Kayla, and Cassidy; sisters, Carleen and Molly; and numerous friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret; brothers, Bobby and Johnny; and sister Nora.

An American hero, Mike joined the Marine Corps in 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his service. Upon his return he spent two years at William and Mary University, majoring in American History.

Michael is a thirty-five year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and has counseled countless young men on their journey to sobriety. With his quick wit and outspokenness, he was a favorite to chair the meetings at the Omaha Clubhouse on 42nd Street, and at the “Hole in the Wall” group in Vista, California.
