Michaellyn Jeanee Gaines

May 5, 1976 – January 28, 2023

VISITATION: Friday, February 10, 5-7pm at Salem Baptist Church, 3131 Lake St.

SERVICES: Saturday 10am at Salem Baptist Church.

INTERMENT: Evergreen.

Michaellyn Jeanee Gaines was born on May 5, 1976 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents Florine Rogers (Gaines) Grayson and Robert Gaines. She was blessed to have two wonderful fathers in her life; Robert Gaines and Richard Lee Smith. Both men preceded her in death. Michaellyn was the youngest of two children.

Michaellyn was baptized at a very young age. She began her Christian walk at St. Mark Baptist Church in Omaha, under the leadership of Rev. L.D. Clemons. She later moved her church membership to Salem Baptist Church, Omaha, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Maurice Watson.

Michaellyn had multiple nicknames. She was known to her immediate family as MIKE-MIKE. But she was affectionately known to her close friends as MIMI. Her formal education began in Omaha at Conestoga Elementary School. She went on to attend South High School and graduated in 1994. Her higher learning choice was Rust College, Holly Springs, MS. Michaellyn studied Education Leadership while a student there. Prior to her demise, she was employed by the First National Bank of Omaha as a loyal employee.

Michaellyn had a passion for bowling. She began her love of bowling at Ames Bowling Lanes in grade school. As an advent bowler, she participated in several local leagues and ranked high in multiple competitive tournaments over her amateur career. She was a highly competitive, sought-after bowler, in and out of the Omaha community. Michaellyn had a second love when not bowling – DARTS. When not at the bowling alley you could find her at a local in-promptu DART tournament. A feisty competitor she was here as well. She could also be found at the local lakes in the Omaha Community fishing with her mother and brother.

Michaellyn had a quick smile that could and would light up a room. To know her was to love her.  She had a heart of gold.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  Her cooking skills were unmatched, especially her lasagna and mac-n-cheese. These were her specialty dishes.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Xavier Gaines & Ronald Douglas Jr. (Omaha); mother, Florine Rogers (Gaines) Grayson of Omaha; brother, Andre Rogers, of Dallas, TX; sister, Kimberly Gaines, of Los Angeles, CA; 3 nieces; 4 nephews; 4 great-nephews; 4 great-nieces; Cameron Hogan and Kim Hickman (Best Friends), and a whole host of family members and dear friends.
