Mozelle E. (Rice) Morin

Mozelle Morin, age 96, of Omaha and formerly of Arlee, Montana, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Hospice House-The Josie Harper Residence in Omaha. She was born on May 4, 1922 to Charles and Minnie Rice in Cane River, North Carolina.

Mozelle graduated from Arlee High School and attended Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, MT. She married Wilbur Morin on November 1, 1940. They shared 62 years of marriage before his death. Mozelle and Wilbur owned a ranch and later, in retirement, a ranchette where they shared a love of gardening and animals and visits from grandchildren. Mozelle volunteered in various capacities for many years at her church and at the Senior Center. She delivered mail to the train in Arlee. She was a cashier at Safeway and served her country as an Election Judge in Missoula, MT. She owned Montgomery Ward catalog stores for many years in Lewistown and Missoula, MT. She was vocal on governmental issues. In her elderly years she never missed a Husker game. She especially loved caring for her flowers and gardening and loved her family with all her heart. She was an active member of Eastern Star, Red Hats, and Bible Study. Mozelle was a talented seamstress who loved to create Halloween costumes for family members as well as exquisite dresses. She quilted, crocheted, and knitted beautiful things. In her toolbox she had a crowbar, chain saw, and plumbing tools, and she knew how to use them.

Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Morin; her daughter, Judy; her parents, Charlie and Minnie; and her siblings, Edward and Cecil.   She is survived by daughters: Patricia Morin, Pamela Dillon, and Suzann Morin Steffen; grandchildren: Kendra Duquette, Nicole Stremlow Monahan, Heidi Vals, Joseph Downs, and Jacob Downs; nine great-grandchildren: Austin, Tayia, Logan, Landon, Alexa, Abigail, Sierra, Carter, and Nolan; siblings, “Shine” and Phyllis; many other family members and friends.

MEMORIAL CELEBRATION: Saturday, August 4th at 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 216 S. 34th St. with Rev. Dr. Jennifer Blake officiating; reception to follow. A later celebration with Interment will be held at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Missoula, MT. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Nebraska Wildlife Rehab Inc., P.O.
