MSgt John Leonard Hassell, USAF (Retired)
April 14, 1940 ~ April 29, 2022
Age 82
John served our nation through his distinguished career in the United States Air Force at many locations around the world including a wartime tour in Vietnam, and following he served Omaha as custodial managers for both Mutual of Omaha and Goodwill Industries. John will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Raegan Hassell; his beloved cat, Jinx. He is survived by wife, Jean Hassell; Tux the Great (his cherished cat); children: John Hassell Jr. (Marla), Susanne Farley (James), Jessica Gindlesperger (Daniel), Christopher Hassell, Kirk Swanson (Jim); step-daughters, Dawn Helmberger (Jim) and Tammy Lewis (Mike); grandchildren: Devin Rimington, Matthew Anthony, Jennifer Farley, Robert Farley, Julian Hassell, Zachary Gindlesperger, and Kaci Gindlesperger; step-grandchildren: Brooke Day (Oliver), Brandon Lewis, Kelly Lewis, Erin Helmberger, Elizabeth Lewis, Megan Helmberger, and Nicole Helmberger; great-grandchild, Marlee Farley; step-great-grandchild Peyton Day.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the West Center Chapel. FUNERAL: Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 9:00am at the West Center Chapel. Interment with Military Rites: Omaha National Cemetery.

Dear Jeanie, I will always miss your John. He and my John had many good talks about the Air Force and John was a great neighbor to me after my John passed away so suddenly. When I got lonely, I would go and visit with the other John. He was such a nice man and a wonderful husband to Jeanie. He will not be forgotten. Karen Dulany
