Muriel Mae Nuffer was born on May 5, 1935, in Doon, Iowa to Earl and Alvina (Wendorf) Finck and raised in Valley Springs, South Dakota.  Muriel and Jerry T. Nuffer met as teenagers and were married in 1954. Muriel spent the next 20 years as a military wife and mother traveling to several bases in the United States and Okinawa.

After Jerry’s retirement from the Air Force, they settled with their three children, Debbie, Mike, and Pat in Bellevue, Nebraska.  After her children were grown, Muriel began work as a bookkeeper and auditor for Sears and JC Penney.  Muriel also prepared taxes for H&R Block (still doing her own until last year by hand!).

Muriel was a member of St Bernadette Catholic Church, where she was a volunteer for the Altar Society.  One of her most cherished duties was assisting with the funeral luncheons for her fellow parishioners.

Muriel’s pride and joy was her family including her husband, three children, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Before Jerry’s passing in 2020, they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Alvina Finck; husband, Jerry T. Nuffer; sons, Michael and Patrick Nuffer; son-in-law, Marvin Faux; brother, Laurence Finck; and sister, Mildred “Mick” Hiney.  She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Faux; daughter-in-law, Lynne Nuffer; grandchildren: Amanda (John) Buscher, Dawn Faux, Erin (Chuck) Severson, Scott Faux, and Jason (Jessie) Nuffer; great-grandchildren: Shane (Kalli) Buscher, Jayden (Paige) Becker, Taya Becker, Kenna Buscher, Rylin Becker, T.J. Nuffer, and Evy Nuffer; sister, Mary Hall; brothers, David (Mary) Finck and Bill (Diane)Finck; sister-in-law, Irene Finck; and many nieces and nephews.
