Jack Murrel, Sr. Jan 3, 1944 Sep 17, 2015 On the evening of September 17, 2015, Jack Murrel, Sr. passed away at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Jack was 71 years old. Born in Marvell, Arkansas on January 3, 1944, Jack was the ninth child out of fourteen born to Lillie Mae and John Murrel. He moved to Omaha with his wife in 1964, working as a baker at Petits Pastry and Safeway Food Stores. He then went on to become a butcher for 25 years at the Hy-Vee Store on North 16th Street in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Jack had a passion for music, teaching his grandchildren how to read and play music on both the piano and the guitar. He enjoyed having musical jam sessions on the front porch of his home, followed by long conversations with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Choise Jean Murrel; three daughters: Jacqueline, Janie, and Michelene (Phillip); three sons: Quentin (Carol), Jack Jr. and Jack Joseph (Shelly); three granddaughters: Kenesha, Mercedes, and Alexis; five grandsons: Quentin Jr., Jeff, Jordan, Dante, and Nicholas; three brothers: Paul, John Lee, and Birdell; two sisters, Ruby Lee and Josephine; as well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces. The family will receive friends Friday, September 25th, from 10am to 11:45 am, followed by SERVICES at 12noon, all at the West Center Chapel. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
