Nancy Ann (Peitzmeier) Rase

RASE, Nancy Ann (Peitzmeier) Jan 16, 1972 – Dec 6, 2014 Nancy Ann (Peitzmeier) Rase passed away in her home in Elkhorn on December 6, 2014, after a courageous fight against cancer. Nancy was born on January 16, 1972 in West Point, Nebraska to Ambrose and Pauleen (Schueller) Peitzmeier. She attended Guardian Angels Grade School and Central Catholic High School. After graduation she earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Creighton University and a Master’s Degree from UNO. Most of her career was spent working at Union Pacific Railroad where most currently she had served as the Regional Sales Director. On July 5, 1997, Nancy married Mark Rase and together they had two beautiful children, Drew (12) and Samantha (9). As a family, they enjoyed traveling together, spending days at the lake and attending many athletic events together including Husker football and Creighton games. Nancy herself was an avid runner and enjoyed competing in many area races. She was a volunteer for the children’s liturgy at St. Stephen the Martyr Parish where she was a member, and she volunteered as a coach for many of the teams her children played on. At Union Pacific, she was involved in many fundraising activities for various organizations. Nancy’s most cherished accomplishment was her role as a wife and mother. Throughout her battle against cancer, Nancy always remained “Rase Strong” for her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Mark; children, Drew and Sami; parents, Ambrose and Pauleen Peitzmeier; parents-in-law, Tom and Karen Rase; sisters: Joan Plagge (Tim) and Brenda Duhsmann (Greg) of West Point, NE, Rhonda Potratz (Mike) of Des Moines IA, Sara Nichols (Eric) of North Glenn, CO and Beth Peitzmeier of Omaha; grandparents, Herbert and Berdella (Pottebaum) Schueller; sister-in-law, Marcia Schmitz (Joe) of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Matt Rase (Lori) of Council Bluffs, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Amy; grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Peitzmeier; various aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 9th from 5pm to 7pm at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 16701 “S” St. in Omaha, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Wednesday, December 10th at 10:30am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Drew and Samantha Rase Education Fund or Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
