LUNDGREN, Nancy J. Jan 28, 1935 Aug 4, 2014 Nancy Jane Lundgren, daughter of David and Corrine Anderson, was born January 28, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her early years in the Skokie/Evanston area of Chicago where her father owned and operated a dry cleaning business. Later the family moved to Essex, Iowa to run the family farm and Nancy attended Red Oak High School where she graduated in 1952. She went on to Northwest Missouri State College where she earned a degree in education. Nancy married Darold Lundgren in 1958. She taught Kindergarten and First Grade for a few years until she was asked if she would be interested in starting a preschool at First Covenant Church in Omaha. She said yes and she was Preschool Director and Teacher for the next 43 years. During those 43 years she delivered over one million hugs. Nancys faith was apparent in all she did and in the many lives she touched. She was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Omaha for over 50 years before transferring her membership to Presbyterian Church of the Cross. She has served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Program Volunteer, and was involved in virtually every aspect of the church. Family was Nancys greatest love. Her marriage of 53 years to Darold was a perfect union. Her daughters, son-in-laws and especially her four grandchildren were the source of incredible joy to her and she loved them all unconditionally. Nancy loved life and lived it to the fullest. She cherished her many wonderful friends. She loved Lake Okoboji, the Huskers!, traveling with Darold, and her puppy Henry who held a very special place in her heart. Anyone who knew or met Nancy felt her kindness and her love because she would greet you with a smile and a hug no matter what. We know that her new job will come very easily to her because shes been an Angel on Earth for the past seventy-nine years. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Darold L. Lundgren; parents, David and Corinne Anderson.
