A devoted mother, partner, and friend; she passed away on February 21st in Bellevue, Nebraska, at the age of 75. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, on April 12, 1949, to Marcia Rosalie Gassert/Kenealy and David Howard Mechling, both of whom have preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving partner, Marty Kathol; children: Lee Kshywonis (Tami), Molly Mullanaphy ( Jim), Nicholas Kshywonis (Sarah). Nancy was a proud grandmother to: Mitchell Brown, Zackary Daugherty, Christianna Marston, Jacob Kshywonis, Dylan Bates, Jace Kshywonis, Makenzie Calvin, Logan Kshywonis, Matthew Kshywonis, Adalynn Kshywonis, Kailey Kshywonis, and Samuel Kshywonis; and a cherished great-grandmother to, Artemis Marston and Lorelai Marston. Nancy was a woman of strength and compassion and the heart of her family. She dedicated her life to her loved ones, always offering support, guidance, and laughter. She was known for her loyalty, sense of humor, and open-hearted acceptance of everyone she met. Nancy truly valued her friendships and family, but above all it was the bonds she formed with them. She was always available to share your joy and carry your burdens. She lived by the beliefs:
“Life is like a book, some chapters are sad, some happy, and some are exciting. But if you never turn the page you will never know what the chapter holds.” and “Love people for who they are and enjoy life for what it is, accepting what you have, not live to meet others expectations.”
Nancy found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, needlework, music, ballet, birdwatching, and collecting unique treasures. She had a deep appreciation for nature and a passion for charitable causes, including military and local community organizations.
