Nancy Mary (Hoffland) Fieber

FIEBER, Nancy Mary (Hoffland) Aug 18, 1929 – Oct 30, 2012 Age 83, Omaha, NE. Born in Madison, WI. Preceded in death by her parents, Oscar J. and Irene (McBain) Hoffland of Madison, WI; brother, Peter Hoffland, of Amarillo, TX. She is survived by her family, including her brother, James Hoffland of Madison, WI; three daughters: Dr. Mary C. Fieber of Enid, OK, Catherine A. Fieber (John Lewnard) of Inverness, IL, and Susan Fieber Strohn (Steven) of Omaha; grandchildren: Irene, Joseph and Peter Lewnard of Inverness, IL, and Connor Norris of Omaha, NE; many cousins, nieces and nephews; friends. Nancy attended Wisconsin High School, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in physical therapy, a member of Chi Omega and Phi Kappa Phi. She did post-graduate work in Durham, NC and University of Nebraska, and practiced for 30 years at Munroe-Meyer Institute in Omaha, working with profoundly and multiply handicapped and deaf-blind infants and children. Nancy mentored PhD students and taught graduate courses as an adjunct professor for University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and worked with state and federal legislative bodies on the legislative framework for public education for special needs children. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan 2, 2013, from 5pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Munroe-Meyer Institute Guild, in care of the mortuary.
