First let me extend my prayers and deepest condolences to Betty and family. Not only was he my counselor, confidant and friend but the role model that so many young man aspired to be like in life. I had the honor and privilege to work with Knobby the first year that he worked at Okoboji. His present in my life and that of many others can not be over stated. In fact just his presence in the life of so many has had an unmeasurable impact on the the lives of many. How can I or anyone adequately express just how to much he has contributed to life of so many. Thank you my friend, mentor and father figure for being there for me and so many others. Thank god for you just being you. It has truly been an honor to have had the opportunity to know and love you. Find solace in knowing that the world is a better place because of Knobby’s presence and it and that his spirit lives on though those he has influenced.

Knobby was as much of a Father figure as a friend, and I was blessed to work for him at Okoboji. There is no way a man of his talent, generosity and leadership dies wondering if he was loved. Times with Knobby are among most treasured. Condolences Betty…

Knobby gave the greatest measure of his adult life to helping Boys Town youth become productive citizens of our great country. He was a role model, a caring man who knew precisely the type of care needed for each child and a friend to thousands of Boys Town youth who were fortunate to be in his care. Knobby’s leadership of the Alumni Office at Boys Town set the standard for those who followed him. He is a very highly respected member of the Boys Town family and will be missed by all. We send our heartfelt love and prayers to Betty and the Meysenburg family during this time of sorrow.

I didn’t know Knobby like some of you, but I understand he was a stand-up counselor, friend, and father-like figure who made a difference in your lives. I can’t think of a greater tribute to our counselors who made such an impact. God bless Knobby for being an instrument of Fr. Flanagan’s work. You stand as a shining example doing God’s work for His children.

Love and prayers for Knobby, for Betty, their family and the lasting relationship they had together.

So passes one of the few remaining BT mentors and lead counselors from my years at BT.

Knobby stood with the likes of Frank Szynskie, Dusty Johnson, Scott Clark as proof positive that lay workers at BT could carry the message of Father Flanagan to struggling, disengaged youth through relationships of trust and confidence. How fortunate were all of us who interacted with Knobby (and certainly Betty) for any length of time.

Knobby was introduced to me by some of my BT friends. He was one of he most genuine person that I have ever met. He took me in and gave me guidance when I was a teenager on the streets. We kept in touch throughout the years which lasted 50 + years. I know he was loved by many, many people and will truly be missed as a friend to all and a mentor to all.

    Betty,
Betty,As being from a somewhat older generation, I knew Norbert (as we called him then) as one of the “little kids.” How could he be anything but a role model with the example set by his father, my Uncle Paul. May God comfort you in your loss.
    Cousin Richard
