Norma E. Bertch
February 7, 1934 – May 6, 2024
Norma Elizabeth Bertch passed away on May 6, 2024 at Brookestone Village care facility in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on February 7, 1934 in rural Black Hawk County, Iowa to Adrian and Hilda (Pint) Becker, who preceded her in death. She and William “Bill” Bertch were married for 63 years before his death in 2018. Norma was an office manager and executive secretary for Conagra, Omaha Steaks, and other companies for many years. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, gardening, and was a skilled typist and avid Nebraska football and volleyball fan. Norma and Bill loved to travel and visited 49 U.S. states and many foreign countries. Her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren provided great joy.
Norma is survived by 5 daughters: Janet (James) Daley, Overland Park, KS, Julie (Del) Reibold, Papillion, NE, Karen Bertch (Jim Naughton), Lisle, IL, Lynne (Mark) Capoun, Omaha, NE, Jeanne (John) Workman, Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren: Michael Daley (Nicole), Sarah (Jeff Harris), Andrew Daley (Courtney), Ben Daley (Jessamine), Jared Reibold (Maylyn), Kendyl (Derek) Zeisler, Matt Capoun (Kim), Noah, Anna, and Luke Capoun, Justina and Juliana Workman; 11 great-grandchildren: Connor and Joel Daley, Oliver, Norah, Teddy, and Auggie Harris, Archer Daley, Braedon Ulrich and Colton Reibold, Maverick and Madden Zeisler.
She is also survived by brothers: Dan (Pat), Bob (Faye), Tom (Nancy), and David (Cathy Merritt) Becker; sister, Vernita Schmitz; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Maurice Schmitz; brother, Larry Becker and his wife, Mary; sister, Doris Evers and her husband, Loren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookestone Village and Angels Care Hospice for their care of Norma during the past six weeks.
Visitation begins Friday, May 10, 2024, at 4:00pm followed by Vigil Service at 6:30pm, all at West Center Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 11, 2024, 10:00 a.m., St. Gerald’s Catholic Church (96 & Q St). Entombment: Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to St. Gerald Church or CUES.

Lynne, and your family, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Hold on to all your memories, it will help your healing process so very much. If you need to ever just talk, you know I will be there.
Jeanne, what a beautiful woman your mom was – inside and out. I pray peace and comfort over your family as you go through this season. Love you all.
So sorry for your loss. I was planning on stopping to see her in a couple weeks. Did not expect her to be gone so soon. Was a great sister in law.
