Norma Helen Juhl was born in Charter Oak, Iowa, on October 14, 1930 to Johannas and Rosa Riessen Christiansen. She died in Missouri Valley, Iowa, on July 31, 2016 at the age of eighty-five. Norma attended country school District #1 and high school in Denison, Iowa. She was raised in the Lutheran church and shared her faith with her children and grandchildren. Norma was an avid reader, enjoyed music (especially polka), but was happiest spending time with her family, who she loved more than anything. She had a keen sense of humor and loved funny cards, stories and TV shows (especially Andy Griffith). Norma is survived by her seven children, Valerie Juhl Larson of LeMars, Iowa; Jeff Juhl and his wife Shirley of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Bruce Juhl and his wife Wendy of Garland, Texas; Colleen Juhl Sandoval and her husband Curtis of Addison, Texas; John Juhl and his wife Na of Garland, Texas; Brad Juhl of Des Moines, Iowa; and Gloria Juhl of Omaha, Nebraska; by 14 grandchildren, Kari McElderry, Jamie Larson, Leon McNabb, Adam McNabb, Desire’ Ferrell, Allison Lough, Ryan Juhl, Erin Juhl, Matthew Juhl, Kimmie Juhl, Courtney Austin, Scott Juhl, Angela Wright, and Sheila Wright; by 19 great grandchildren; by siblings Gen Baker; Dorothy Smith and her husband, Duane; Richard Christiansen and his wife, Nancy; Janet Miller; and Donna Jack and her husband, Donald. Norma joins in Heaven her parents, her sisters, Mary Louise Christiansen and Lois Ahrenholtz, and her brothers, Arthur, Edgar and Phillip. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
