NUSRALLAH, Carl J.

Carl J. Nussrallah Apr 22, 1925 – May 5, 2016 Carl John Nussrallah was born on April 22, 1925 into a strong Lebanese family in Omaha, Nebraska. He always cherished his heritage and enjoyed spending time with his extended Lebanese family and friends. The two aspects of his life of which he was the proudest were his seven children and especially his marriage of nearly 63 years to the love of his life, Jeanne. He attended Omaha Technical High School and left early, at the age of 17, to enlist in the Navy during World War II. After the war, Carl received his high school diploma in 1947 and then he attended Creighton University and graduated from Marquette University in 1951 with a degree in structural engineering. He practiced as a civil engineer, spending most of his career at Kirkham Michael, where he rose through the ranks to become President. One of his lifelong loves was playing golf. Bridge was also a passion, and he played until his very recent illness. He was a faithful walker, every morning at Westroads, with all of his many walker friends. He was also dedicated to his flower beds, especially his roses. Even when age started to take its toll, he was faithful to caring for the beautiful garden he’d nurtured for many years. He and Jeanne loved to travel the world. They went on many trips and cruises with their dear friends Louis and Helen Seybold. His Catholic faith was very important to him. He practiced it quietly and faithfully, attending 5:30 p.m. Mass every Saturday with Jeanne and whatever children were at home. He and Jeanne always set a good example for their family. They were proud founding members of Mary Our Queen parish, loved Monsignor Kenney, and were active in their faith. They were strong believers in Catholic education, sending their children to Catholic schools. He was a loving Grandfather to all of his thirteen grandchildren, following all of their accomplishments with pride. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Josephine Nussrallah; sisters, Helen Brinkman and Doris Anderson. He is survived by wife, Jeanne Nussrallah; children: Margaret Quinn (Doug), Kathleen Nussrallah, Barbara Vaupel (Gary), John Nussrallah, Joe Nussrallah, Tom Nussrallah (Tammie) and Mary Anne Mullen (Matt); thirteen grandchildren; brother Robert Nussrallah (Margaret); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staffs at Right at Home, Brookestone Village, Heritage at Sterling Ridge, and Serene Hospice. The family will receive friends Monday, May 9th, from 5pm to 7pm at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BUIAL Tuesday, May 10th at 10am, Mary Our Queen Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mary Our Queen School.
