Pat, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma was born on February 23, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the fourth of five children of Adam and Anna Leonovicz. Her siblings were: Bernice, Don, Mary Jo and Jack (John). They lived in south Omaha where she attended St. Anthony Catholic Grade School. She then attended South High school and after graduation, she entered the nursing program at St. Catherine’s (Creighton).

She graduated and became a Registered Nurse in the summer of 1949. She was introduced to our Dad, Jim, by her sister, Mary Jo, and her future husband, Kenny Mallison, who was one of our Dad’s best friends. They were married on October 28, 1950, and were together for 57 years before Dad left us to go wait for her in Heaven. They lived in a small duplex near 40th & Vinton where they started their family. Jim Jr. was born in 1952, followed by: Bob, Chris, Karen, Kathy and Mary. The family moved to the Benson area in 1957, where Mom spent her days being the most amazing Mom to her 6 kids. We went on many fun family vacations and spent lots of fun weekends together at the cabin at Willow Point. She was always supportive and had an ear to listen. Once the six kids were grown, mom went back to working as a nurse at Douglas County Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 1993. After retirement, mom and dad were always together and often holding hands as they attended all their grandchildren’s school and sports activities and many dance recitals. Besides her six children, mom had 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. She was so very proud of all her kids, grandkids and greats.

Her family was her whole life, and she was never happier than when she was surrounded by her loved ones.

Pat loved angels and always had an angel pin on her shoulder. She loved to do jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and wordfinds to pass the time. She loved country music and would sit in her recliner doing her wordfinds and watching country music videos when she was not busy with some other activity.

Mom had a very strong faith and she constantly prayed for her family and many others. She prayed the Rosary daily and attended daily Mass at Boys Town until she gave up driving when she turned 90. A year after dad died, she moved to Sunridge Village where she met many new friends who were like a second family to her. She lived there until last September, when she fell and broke her hip. After that, she moved to Brookestone Meadows where she lived until she passed on Saturday, February 17, 2024. We will be forever grateful for the loving care given to her by the amazing team of caregivers at Brookestone.

She was our angel here on earth and we will miss her dearly, but we find comfort in knowing that she’s dancing with her ‘fella’ again and still watching over all of us.

We love and miss you very much!

Pat was a woman of great faith and it was my privilege to have met her at Sunridge during our Sunday Communion Services. I remember the angel pins very well. Now she is one.

I met Pat at Sunridge Village and started putting puzzles together occasionally. We were also patients at Brookstone Meadows and spent much time together. I will miss her, her sense of humor and her family. She will always be my special angel and I have no doubt my mom and her are working on puzzles together in heaven!

Pat was such a welcoming and reassuring person. I met her as a recent transplant to the Midwest when I attended nursing school with Chris. She was always kind & gracious to me. Wishing you all peace during this hard time.

I’m writing on behalf of my mother Julia O’Brien. She so wanted to join you this evening to honor her dear friend Pat. Your mom was her table partner at Sunridge from day she moved in. They clicked immediately and Pat was a big part of mom adapting so quickly to the move. Mom will be 97 in a few days and really struggles to leave the building but wants you to know just how much she has treasured Pat’s friendship. We are wishing you comfort as you gather to celebrate her life.

To all the wonderful Edick family,
I am sorry for the loss of your mom, and what an amazing woman she was! I remember many years ago, going skiing at Copper Mountain with Chris, and hearing great stories of Mom, Mrs. Edick! I am sure she will be up in heaven dancing with dad, and watching over all of you. Prayers to you all, Linda

I’m writing on behalf of my mother, Julia O’Brien. She so wanted to join you to honor the life of her dear friend Pat. Pat was a table mate of Julia from the day she moved into Sunridge. Pat’s welcoming friendship was key in helping my mother adjust to the move. She really enjoyed their time together. We are thinking of all of you as you gather to celebrate Pat’s life.

Patricia and James legacy will be the wonderful family they leave on this earth to continue the lessons they taught their Children. I had the great pleasure to work with Chris at Children’s Hospital. I remember one particular circumstance when Chris was soothing and rocking an infant, Ryan Westerling. Her love, compassion and patience I have no doubt were planted in all their children where these traits grew and influenced the kind of people they are today. My condolences on the loss of your mother Pat. She joined James and they continue to guide all of the Erick children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and those they met along the road of life’s
