Patricia Ann (Jacobsen) Olsen

Patricia Ann (Jacobsen) Olsen

March 20, 1934- June 5, 2024

Patrica, known as Patty, was born on March 20, 1934, the youngest of nine children to parents William and Agnes Jacobsen. She had seven brothers and one sister. She passed away on June 5, 2024, after a short illness, aged 90 years.

Patty graduated from Central High School in 1952 and worked at the Corps of Engineers. She married John in 1955. They had a son, David in 1960 and daughter Diane in 1963. Grandsons, Ross and Jake arrived in 1988.

Patty loved ice skating, dancing, gardening, parties, eating popcorn and watching western movies (John Wayne was her favorite). She was also well known for her love of the color blue!

Her family meant a lot to her, and she loved being a grandma to Ross and Jake. Another love was visiting Diane and Henry in Colorado. She always looked forward to leaving the heat and humidity of Omaha and enjoying the cool, dry air of the mountains.

She outlived all her siblings, their spouses and a lot of very good friends. We know she’s dancing now once again in John’s arms to her favorite polkas. Her brothers are playing their accordions, and her dad is accompanying them on the violin. She is reunited with all those who loved her and she is happy.

Patty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, John W.; parents: William and Agnes Jacobsen; seven brothers: Merle, John Melvin, Robert, Richard, Donald, Thomas, Duane; one sister: Alyce Riley. She is survived by son and daughter- in- law: David and Susan and daughter and son- in -law, Diane and Henry Nevarez of Colorado; twin grandsons: Ross and Jake; many nieces and nephews and special friends Rich and Mardell Johanek of Omaha.

Hannah cherished Patty’s presence at her ice skating competitions and we all loved hearing her wonderful stories. Her warmth and support meant the world to us. She will be greatly missed!

So happy Patty called last December to have Diane come over to help her decorate for Christmas. She was very “with it” and explained each decoration and what they meant to her. Everyone is going to miss her family reunions with all the chicken you can eat. Rest in Peace dear Patty.

It was always such a pleasure seeing Aunt Patty at John and Dodie’s annual game feed, she made the best deviled eggs! She was a kind, caring gentle soul. She will be greatly missed, but my fond remembrances will remain always. Peace be with you Aunt Patty.

Have fond memories of the neighborhood winter parties that Pat & John had annually with around eight couples for maybe twenty years..
