Patricia Ann (Leutzinger) Sass

Patricia Ann (Leutzinger) Sass

October 19, 1942 – February 10, 2022

A beautiful soul, wonderful wife, selfless mother, loving and supportive grandmother, and friend has passed, while surrounded by family, following a hard-fought battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).

Preceded in death by father, Edward Leutzinger; mother, Helen Rosenthal; sister, Mary Ann Leutzinger; brother, Robert Leutzinger.  Survived by husband, Russell Sass; daughters, Tari Lenker (Gary), Kelley Sass (Jeanie); son, Mark Sass; grandchildren, Braedyn and Reed; sisters, Helen Cirian (Phil), Diane Zarbock (Don); brother, Richard Leutzinger; many nieces and nephews.

Pat was a 1960 graduate of South High School.  In 1964, Pat and Russell married to begin their lives together.  As residents of South Omaha, they had three children and wanted a small-town atmosphere for the family.  In 1976, Pat and Russ moved the family to an acreage in Elkhorn, NE.  As the children became interested in sports, you would always find Russ coaching the teams and Pat picking up the players when their parents could not join.  Her support was always seen during the kids’ sports events and extracurricular activities.  Pat was an advocate for children and always instilled an ‘I can do anything’ attitude.

As summers approached, you could find Pat and Diane laughing while planning family visits to Colorado.  Excited to retire in 2004, she left long careers with Ralston Purina and ConAgra.  As her children began their adult lives, you could find Pat spending time with family, thrifting, and playing her odds across the river with her sister, Helen.  Pat had a genuine love for life, strong will to live, and cared deeply for her family.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, please consider a donation in Pat Sass’ name to the Josie Harper Hospice House.

A private family interment at St. John’s Cemetery will occur at a later date.
