Patricia Ann (White) Allis
Patricia Ann “Patty” (White) Allis was born to Harold and Florence White in Omaha, NE. She was one of five siblings including Paul, Patricia, Delores, Dan and Mary. She graduated from Holy Name High School in 1956.
In 1957, Patricia married Elliott Bathen. Together, they had four children: Teri, Steve, Rick and Dione. After the couple divorced in 1970, Patricia joined Parents without Partners where she met Ed. Shortly after they met, they married on 10/7/1977 in South Dakota.
Later, Ed’s daughters, Linda and Theresa joined the family. Patty welcomed and treated them as if they had always been a part of the family.
Patty worked for Legal Aid, which was a perfect role for her. She was the voice for those that did not have a voice.
Ed and Patty decided it would be best if she would stay at home and take care of the six children. Family came first for Patty and Ed.
Later, when Ed opened his own plumbing business, Patty assisted him as his bookkeeper.
Patty was always inclusive, warm, and welcoming to everyone. Even after married to Ed, she welcomed Ed’s previous wife and her previous husband to family gatherings to give them an opportunity to visit the children.
Patty had a fun-loving spirit with an infectious laugh. She would offer her opinion, free of charge, even if you did not ask her for it. She was honest, loyal, strong-minded and caring. She and Ed could often be found on the patio, listening to country music, and enjoying a beer together. They always enjoyed each other’s company.
After Ed retired, they purchased a rig to go camping with her sister, Dee and her husband. They also took some of the grandchildren camping to a lake in Iowa.
Patty loved shopping, especially at Christmas time. She was also a wonderful cook, gathering the family for holidays, birthdays, or just because. The food was always in abundance and predictably delicious. Everyone marveled at how wonderful a Thanksgiving meal tasted even though Patty herself did not like turkey! She would say: “I don’t eat anything with two legs!” or “There’s a reason they call it fowl!”
After Patty lost both of her parents to Alzheimer’s, she was tested and discovered she had it too. They were proactive and started medication, yet she slowly declined in her ability to do all that she loved to do. She was still able to play Solitaire, her way- “Creative Card” playing, or you could call it cheating. This helped her mind and kept her hands busy. She enjoyed Word Search puzzles.
Patty will be remembered and loved by her family and friends. We are blessed we were able to call her our spouse, mom, grandmother, sister, great- grandmother and friend.
