Patricia Joan Huber

June 5, 1942- May 29, 2024

Patricia Huber, lovingly known as Patty (or Nana to her grandkids), passed away peacefully at the age of 81. She was born on June 5, 1942, in Council Bluffs, IA, to Marian and Fred Petersen. Patty was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved siblings, Sue and Tom.

Patty grew up in Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and started working for the IRS in Omaha, where she met her first husband, David Pavel.

On May 2, 1981, Patty married the love of her life, Norman Huber, and together they shared 43 years of love, laughter, and companionship. She is survived by her devoted husband, Norm.

From her first marriage, Patty was blessed with two sons, David Pavel (Lisa) of Omaha, grandsons, Nicholas and Michael; and John Pavel (Lori) of Danville, CA, grandchildren, Harrison, Bethany and Corinne. She was also a loving stepmother to David Huber (Dee) of Lincoln, stepgrandchildren: Alison, Abby and Andrew; Don Huber of Omaha; and Debra Hahn (Allen) of Groton, MA, stepgrandson, Garrett.

Throughout her life, Patty was known for her talent in knitting, throwing a welcoming Christmas Eve party, love of food and wine, volunteering across many different Omaha organizations, and her passion for travel. She and Norm embarked on countless adventures across the United States and the world, visiting and traveling with friends, and creating amazing memories along the way.

Patty will be remembered fondly for her kindness, warmth, sense of humor and unwavering love for her family and friends. Patty will always be with us in our hearts, and we will always raise a glass of wine or Blue Moon to her memory.

“How rare and wonderful is that flash of a moment when we realize we have discovered a friend” by William Rotsler.
I met Paty when I started watering their flowers while Norm and her were off on one of their many adventures. At that time, I did not realize that a beautiful friendship would develop between us.
Patty enriched my life with her enthusiam for life, her love for her family and Norm. Her joy and laughter were infectious. I’ll feel Patty’s presence in so many aspects of my life. On a shopping trip to Von Maur, a burger and Blue Moon at Tiger Tom’s, walking by the knitting yarn at Hobby Lobby. Our friendship was a precious gift and one I will treasure forever. Thanks for all the happy memories! Love you and so miss you, Patty.

Jeannie and I first met Patty many years ago when she and Norm were visiting his son Don in Aurora, Colorado. Over the years they visited Colorado many times and we would engage in pleasant conversations filled with stories of from their latest adventure. She was a beautiful person whose presence will be missed.
